Mission : Help EMS

No organization can solve this problem by themselves. No one can afford a fully paid EMS system, what is the solution?

List PROBLEMS
1. County Government does not fully understand problem
2. Organizations afraid of change
3. Lack of people to help
4. Time requirement of service
5. Apathy

Solutions
1. Government Involvement ¡V Members of County government have a rough Idea of what we do.
2. Community ¡V Find new sources of people ¡V Youth in HS and Retired Individuals
3. Fire and EMS ¡V We have to embrace and support programs

Ideas to help change or way of providing the service.
1. First step on any good solution is to admit or see that there is a problem
2. Find ways to improve existing services
3. Find new people to help

Current issues
ƒæ We need Drivers and EMT¡¦s
ƒæ Paramedics are only suppose to do 30% of calls ¡V padded National Average
ƒæ 4 Volunteer Ambulance Corps and 7 FD¡¦s providing service to Putnam
ľ 4 Fly car / Ambulances to cover entire County
ľ Organizations billing and paying for staff
ľ Youth that gets trained and then goes away to College or Somewhere they can afford to live
ľ A shrinking senior citizen group with cost and relocation

I am brain storming and yes it hurt, answer back if you have any thing to add or suggestion to help.

Agreed. That's what I am shooting for, but it will be an uphill battle.

BTW, hope things are good in NC!

Hi all,

Just my two cents from NC. . . I still think the municipal model would make a much more stable system overall. No more worries over "what color shirt will we wear next year?!"

Stability can also yield loyalty from employees. If the County is still losing the good medics, give them a great employer to work for.

 NO NOTIFICATION from INDIAN POINT!!
« Result #8 on Sept 12, 2007, 1:25pm »

Today is September 12, 2007 and I am very upset to hear the Indian Point Alarm go off b/c I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED by phone (I usually am called with a recording). Apparently there are several other worried folks out there like me and my children...they
weren't notified either. Please demand this system be fixed or close the place down. I moved to Cold Spring out of NYC after Sep 11, 2001 so I wouldn't have to worry on Sept 12, 2007!

To guest:

The immediate crisis has been resolved, how's that for clarification?

As far as the municipal model, what makes you think we haven't looked at it? In fact, I already did put it on the table for the legislature.

To all:
